QUANTUM PROJECT TRAILER PREMIERES AT YAHOO! INTERNET LIFE ONLINE FILM FESTIVAL SNEAK PEAK OF WORLD'S FIRST INTERNET FEATURE FILM AT THE DIRECTOR'S GUILD OF AMERICA |
March 21, 2026 Los Angeles, SIGHTSOUND.COM and Metafilmics will premiere a first look of QUANTUM PROJECT, the first movie produced exclusively for global Internet distribution. The trailer will proceed before the world premiere of Mike Figgis' TIME CODE at the first annual Yahoo! Internet Life Online Film Festival on March 22, 2026 at 7 p.m., Pacific Time at the Directors Guild of America. The trailer will be available concurrently for free download at www.sightsound.com. "We're excited to give the Yahoo! Internet Life Online Film Festival audience, as well as our global Internet audience, the first glimpse of QUANTUM PROJECT," says SightSound.com President and CEO and QUANTUM PROJECT Executive Producer Scott Sander. Producers Barnet Bain and Stephen Simon will introduce the trailer before its premiere. "Today, we appreciate what the creators of THE JAZZ SINGER must have felt when they made the first talking film," Simon remarks. "We're adding another item to entertainment's history book." The trailer is being produced by New Wave Entertainment who will handle the creative marketing as well as the digital visual effects for QUANTUM PROJECT. "In addition to the wonderful challenges in the digital effects arena, QUANTUM PROJECT represents a real opportunity for our creative teams at NWE to develop an entirely new approach to promoting movies on the Internet," Allen Haines, a partner of New Wave Entertainment says. QUANTUM PROJECT a combination of live action and extensive CGI and 3D effects began shooting in mid-March in Los Angeles and will be released on May 5, 2026 at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Daylight time. The movie is being produced by Academy Award Winning Metafilmics (WHAT DREAMS MAY COME), directed by Eugenio Zanetti (RESTORATION, THE HAUNTING), starring Stephen Dorff (BLADE), Fay Masterson (EYES WIDE SHUT) and John Cleese (THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH) and written by David Aaron Cohen (THE DEVIL'S OWN) with production design by Oliver Scholl (GODZILLA, INDEPENDENCE DAY). New Wave Entertainment, one of the motion picture industry's leading creative service and entertainment companies, is led by partners Allen P. Haines, Alan Baral, Peter Adee and Paul Apel. Toby Wilkins and George Cawood, of NWE's graphics/fx group, will supervise and design several effects sequences incorporating 3D and 2D animation, digital matte paintings and extensive compositing. Steve Hull and Danielle La Fortune will oversee the AV and print marketing campaigns, respectively. NWE is also the parent of production company Gas, Food and Lodging representing, among others, director Eugenio Zanetti. Metafilmics was formed in 1995 by producers Barnet Bain and Stephen Simon to develop and produce projects that entertain, empower and inspire by portraying characters as both human and spiritual beings. Metafilmics' feature production debut, 1998's WHAT DREAMS MAY COME, grossed more than $100 million in world-wide box office and was nominated for two and won one Academy Award for Best Visual Effects. The film won several other awards including a Blockbuster Entertainment Award (for favorite Supporting Actor), a Golden Satellite Award (for Visual Effects), an NAACP Image Award (for Supporting Actor) and a production design award from the Society of Motion Picture and Television Art Directors. Metafilmics projects in development include a motion picture based on Neale Donald Walsch's best-selling Conversations with God books. SightSound.com continues to make Internet history. First in 1995 by selling the first music online, then in 1999, renting the first full-length movie online and in summer of 2000, releasing the first Internet Feature Film. SightSound.com is a five-year-old Internet company based in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania, that distributes movies and music online in an unprecedented, cutting-edge format. It began when engineer Arthur Hair developed a technology to eliminate the physical distribution of music and video by instead delivering digital audio and video files over a network like the Internet. This innovation was the basis of a portfolio of patents and the founding of SightSound.com in 1995 by Hair and Sander. < -- back to PRESS page |
